Asem Mokaddem leads Tellus Products, LLC into the future as its new President. Tellus produces eco-friendly, compostable foodservice and tableware products that are made from upcycled sugarcane fiber and other U.S. grown plant fibers and displace disposable plastic and foam products. Tellus’ full line of products made in the USA with US and imported plant fibers contains no added PFAS.
Since joining Tellus in April, Mokaddem has focused on streamlining the production and distribution of the sustainable products and furthering the company’s pledge to protect the planet.
“It’s beyond an honor to serve as the President of such an incredible company,” said Mokaddem. “The work that the team here at Tellus is doing is laying a blueprint for the future of single-use plastic alternatives by being laser-focused on sustainability. I look forward to continuing to push the needle in the market by working alongside the best and brightest in the industry to expand our capabilities and production.”
Mokaddem replaces Matt Hoffman, who stepped down to focus on his new role as President and CEO of the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida but will continue to serve Tellus as a member or its board of directors and executive committee.
“Asem’s extensive background, from his time working as an engineer in a pulp mill to his experience in the financial sector, will serve as an invaluable resource to the entire Tellus team as we grow,” said Matt Hoffman. “I am confident Tellus will continue to thrive under Asem’s leadership and guidance.”
Mokaddem first joined Tellus as Chief Financial Officer. He brings more than 20 years of in-depth experience in the Packaging & Paper sector. Prior to joining Tellus, he served as a Managing Director in Rabobank’s Mergers and Acquisitions group in New York, leading the Packaging & Paper advisory practice. In that role, he advised clients on strategic transactions within the global Packaging & Paper sector.
Mokaddem has also served as Director of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning at Sonoco Products Company, a leading global consumer packaging and industrial products company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Computational Engineering from the University of Mississippi as well as an MBA from the University of Virginia – Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
